Suppressive Effects of Lactobacillus on Depression throughRegulating the Gut Microbiota and Metabolites in C57BL/6JMice Induced by Ampicillin

Composite LAB (L. rhamnosus GMNL-74, L. acidophilusGMNL-185, and L. plantarum GMNL-141) treatment has anti-depressive potential. Thepotential involvement of LAB in regulating the composition of the gut microbiota, reducingthe levels of inflammatory factors, regulating the levels of short-chain fatty acids, modifyingthe mRNA expression of depression-related metabolic pathways, and gut-derived5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) biosynthesis genes may also be involved.
